Our cookie policy

We use cookies on our website and in our emails to provide you with a better service and experience. From now on, our trusted partners will also be able to share the information they obtain and improve your experience on their websites. This document describes the categories of cookies we use and share with our partners, their purpose and how you can change your preferences.

What are cookies?

Cookies are small data files stored by your browser on your computer's hard drive containing a certain amount of information exchanged between a website and your terminal device and are normally used by the website operator to store the information necessary to improve navigation within the site or to send advertising messages in line with the preferences expressed by the user while surfing the web. When you visit the same site or any other site again, your device checks for the presence of a recognised cookie so that it can read the information it contains. Different cookies contain different information and are used for different purposes (efficient navigation on the pages of the same site, profiling in order to send targeted promotional messages, analysis of the number of visits to the site). More generally, some cookies (called session cookies) are assigned to the user's device only for the duration of access to the site and expire automatically when the browser is closed. Other cookies (called persistent cookies) remain on your device for an extended period of time. The specific purposes of the different types of cookies installed on this site are described in more detail below. You can deactivate cookies by following the information below.

What cookies we use

The cookies we use allow us to recognise returning users and their details so that they do not have to enter the same information again and again. They also allow us to analyse the traffic patterns of users visiting our website so that we can improve its usability. Here are some of the types of cookies used on our website:

Technical cookies

We may use technical cookies to enable you to take advantage of the services you have requested through our website. Without these cookies, it would not be possible to provide the services you have requested. For example, technical cookies may be used to:

  • Allowing users to access secure areas of our website without having to continually log in
  • Remembering any actions performed by the user (e.g. completing a form) when returning to the previous page of a session

How to disable this type of cookie? The main and most popular browsers accept all cookies by default. You can change this option, through the features on your browser, by disabling - as described below - the function altogether or at least requesting that for each incoming cookie you are asked for explicit consent when receiving it.

Analytical cookies

Analytical cookies may be used to obtain information about the use of the website, advertisements and e-mails and to alert us to any errors. In addition, these cookies allow us to obtain detailed technical information such as the last page visited, the number of pages visited, whether an email has been opened, which parts of the website or emails are clicked on by users and the time elapsed between clicks. This information may be associated with user details such as IP address, domain or browser; however, it is analysed together with other people's information so as not to identify one particular user to another. For example, these cookies may be used on our website to:

  • Analyse and improve the performance and design of our website, advertisements and emails
  • Quantifying the response to our advertisements and improving their effectiveness
  • Calculate errors occurring on our website to improve the service and handle any complaints

For information and to deactivate third-party analytical cookies go to the website: www.youronlinechoices.com/it

Third-party tracking cookies

Third party tracking cookies may be sent to your device from our partners' websites. These cookies are used to determine when our partners redirect a user to our website and whether that user purchases a product or service. We may share this information with our partners in an anonymous manner so that we do not identify one particular user to another. In addition, this information is provided in accordance with our contractual obligations to our partners to help them improve the effectiveness of their sites.

Functionality cookies

These cookies are not essential, but they do allow you to take advantage of several useful features on our website. For example, they may be used on our website to:

  • Remembering preferences selected by the user during previous visits, such as country/language, interests and presentation of the website (layout, font size, colours, etc.). This way, the user does not have to re-enter this information.
  • Remembering answers to questions posed by our site, for example on participation in customer satisfaction surveys, so that they are not repeated to the user
  • Determining whether a service has already been offered to the user, e.g. the offer of online real-time assistance
  • Providing information enabling the operation of optional services, e.g. watching an online video or posting a comment on a blog
Targeting or promotional cookies

These cookies may be used on our website to serve advertisements tailored to your interests. Targeting or promotional cookies allow us to obtain detailed information about how users navigate our website (for example, which products or services a particular person views most). They also allow us to recognise a user who returns to our website and/or a site that is part of the network of one of our promotional partners.

Third-party cookies

When you use our website, we may store some cookies that we do not control. This is the case, for example, if you visit a page that contains content from a third party website. As a result, the user will receive cookies from these third party services. Cookies do not contain any personal information unless the user is logged into the account. For example, third party cookies could originate from:

  • Google Analytics
  • Google Tag manager
  • Google Adwords
  • Facebook connect
  • Facebook ads
  • MagNews
  • Youtube

For more information on the use of cookies by third parties, please refer to the privacy and cookie policy of the services in question.
